The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It is designed to determine the eligibility of candidates who aspire to become teachers in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), and other schools under the control of Union Territories. CTET is an essential qualification for those who wish to pursue a career in the teaching profession, as it is a prerequisite for most teacher recruitment exams conducted across India.
The exam consists of two papers — Paper I for candidates who wish to teach at the Primary Level (Classes I–V) and Paper II for those aiming to teach at the Upper Primary Level (Classes VI–VIII). Candidates who want to teach both levels can appear for both papers. CTET is conducted in online mode and includes objective-type questions from subjects such as Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I & II, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, and Social Studies/Science.
