The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students seeking admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and BSc Nursing in government and private institutions across India. NEET serves as the single entrance exam for medical admissions, replacing multiple state and institutional-level exams, and ensures a uniform and transparent selection process for aspiring medical students.
The NEET exam is conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode and consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) based on the Physics, Chemistry, and Biology syllabus of Classes 11 and 12. The exam evaluates a candidate’s conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability in science subjects. It is conducted once a year and is available in several languages to cater to students from different regions.
